Hat Handling & Care Guide

At Wholein Hats, we believe a great hat can be a lifelong companion, if it’s taken care of properly! To help your hat look its best for years to come, follow our easy handling and care tips.

General Hat Care

Avoid Crushing: Hats are prone to losing their shape when stored improperly. When not in use, store your hat on a hat rack, in a hat box, or on a flat surface to help it retain its structure.
Keep It Dry: While many hats can handle a bit of rain, it’s best to avoid prolonged exposure to water. If your hat gets wet, gently blot it with a clean cloth and let it air dry naturally. Never use a hairdryer or place it near a heater, as high heat can warp the material.

Handle with Clean Hands: Oils and dirt from your hands can transfer onto your hat, so always handle it with clean hands or by the brim.

Cleaning Your Hat
Different materials require different cleaning techniques. Here’s how to keep your hat looking fresh based on the fabric:

Cotton & Fabric Hats:

Use a soft brush or lint roller to remove dust and debris.
For small stains, spot clean with a mild detergent and cold water. Gently dab the area with a damp cloth and let it air dry.
Avoid machine washing, as it may damage the shape and color of your hat.

Long-Term Care Tips
Rotate Your Hats: If you wear hats frequently, consider rotating them to avoid over-wearing any one hat. This will help them last longer and keep their shape.

Traveling with Hats: When traveling, pack your hat in a hat box or stuff the crown with soft clothing to help it keep its shape inside your luggage.
